Rodney Malpert - Longtime Senior Master Chess Player
Rodney Malpert is an author, venture capitalist, and senior master chess player who resides primarily in Dallas, Texas, and Lincoln, Nebraska. A chess enthusiast since childhood, he excels in competitive, high-pressure settings. Rodney Malpert values the discipline for the way that it encourages rigorous thinking, helping expand and direct one’s intelligence in ways that apply to the real world.
Highly involved in the chess community, Rodney Malpert provided volunteer feedback and analysis at the 2022 Cornhusker State Games Chess Tournament. In 2024, he helped coordinate the Nebraska Hall of Fame Chess Celebration in Lincoln, which brought together past and present champions from across the country. As he described it, Nebraska has been producing top players since the late 1960s and is overdue for a chess renaissance.
Retired as a corporate lawyer, Rodney Malpert was active with Fragomen Global, LLP, for many years and has authored numerous articles in his field. He has taught law at a number of institutions of higher learning, including Southern Methodist University (SMU) Law School, the University of Nebraska, and Arizona State Law School.
